Porto are interested in securing a season-long loan for Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, with Portuguese clubs having until October 25 to finalise their transfer dealings.
The transfer window closed across most of Europe on Monday, with United bringing in Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani, Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri in the wake of their 6-1 humiliation at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils were unable to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for long-time target Jadon Sancho, while proposed deals for Ousmane Dembele and Ismaila Sarr fell through.
Chris Smalling also departed Old Trafford for Roma, and it appears the club may not be done in the current window in regards to outgoings.
ESPN’s Rob Dawson reports that Portuguese giants Porto are showing an interest in Lingard over a potential loan deal for the 2020/21 campaign.
The Englishman remains firmly on the periphery of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans at United, with the club said to be willing to listen to offers for the 27-year-old in the summer.
Lingard notched just 931 minutes of Premier League action last term, scoring once, as he established himself as a regular in the Europa League side who progressed into the semi-finals of the competition.
Their £36m sale of starlet Fabio Silva to Wolves, along with the recent £13.5m departure of Telles to United, have mitigated their financial woes and they look destined for a busy couple of weeks in the transfer market.
